GODDAMN ZUBATS

So, one thing I forgot to touch on yesterday was the idea behind a series of art I plan to do, it will most likely be more then just photos but also sculpture and possibly drawings as well. The idea is a bunch of scenes showing what I call “Modern Fantasy” which is fantastical things such as vampires, werewolves, magic or fae in modern day scenes, most often hidden from the general public. The one that I have in mind which I would like to do soon(as soon as I figure out how) is a picture of a person(I’m thinking female, but it works either way) standing in front of a mirror in a public bathroom, staring at a large, dark figure of a ghost on the other side of the mirror, standing behind them, but never appearing in outside of the mirror.

With that, it brings me to another issue that I shall address now which is the story behind the piece I did in the sculpture class that I refused to reveal during the class. A lot of people in the class seemed fairly interested in the story behind it which I believe simply to be the mystery behind it, but no matter. The story behind the piece is that it is a variety of items left behind by a modern day magi, the stones set up in a triangle with the one in the middle was meant to be the sight of a simple ritual whilst the stick lift at the scene was meant to be a magically reinforced stick meant to act like a wand for the magi, Finally was the half smoked cigarette, I had taken it and grinded it on the ground lightly so that pieces of tobacco fell out onto the ground so that it looked as though it was dropped mid-smoke, suggesting that the person left in a hurry. Why did I keep the stuff a secret then? Because it both made it so that people didn’t know what exactly it was but they knew it was more then what it looked like, therefore making them more interested in it, as if they were a bit too curious and were about to be thrusted into a different world if they went further.

Soup interwebs. Alright, first off, This is my first post in a long time and that is mostly because I have been one busy bee. First off I am going to college in Haliburton which I assume most of you would know by now. Second of all I just got back from a trip in Toronto and it gave me some ideas.

IDEA NUMERO UNO

Take a black sheet of paper, any size really but preferably big so that it can be used a background for a picture. Once that is done get someone or something to blow smoke against the black background and take a picture, then go to photoshop and invert the colours so that the background is white and the smoke is black. Now, “fold” the picture so that it looks like a ink blot. GENIUS

IDEA NUMERO DOS

Log + Axe, take out frustrations on log with the axe and leave the axe in it, possibly do more to it. Art.

IDEA NUMERO TRES

Take a picture of all the empty cups of tea I have drank through-out the course of a month, or at least until I have a good amount of pictures. This will show anyone who knows me how much was on my mind for the simple fact that I drink tea of any kind when I want to calm down because frankly it works. Its not necessarily that I am stressed out or frustrated, I just have to calm myself down so I can get comfortable.

On another note, New Dan Mangan CD called Oh Fortune is out, while I don’t have it now I will definitely buy it as soon as possible.

So, Today I was talking to a friend about organising a time for a world of darkness game, simple "we do it at this time or if you are working, at this time” and that was about it. But after thinking for it a bit I realised that is one of the many reasons I would have to have a job where I am not my own boss, hours, if I am my own boss I can choose, just about on a whim(unless it is something I have to do for an event) what my own hours are so that I would have free time for the things I want to do, that being said, it is not like I am going to go whilly nilly with the hours and have it so that I have something other then work planned every day of the work and not actually get anything done, but it will still let me organise my time a bit better then having someone I barely know make my hours for me. Another is when I am actually working, despite moving slow and seemingly doing things slowly, I actually do them quite efficiently and quickly, employers who don’t know me though may thing that I am not doing as much as said guy who does things less efficiently, therefore taking longer to do it, but it makes it seem like he is doing it. It took my parents a long while to realise that I do all the jobs they list for me at home, I just do them at my own pace and not always in the order they tell me in. For instance, the other day my parents had listed for me to clean up the garbage and recycling stuff in the house, I bagged up the recycling pretty early and got that out, when my mother got home she realise that the garbage wasn’t bagged and asked me why, it was simple, I was waiting for dinner to be cooked so that the scraps from that could be cleaned up.

Either way, enough of my babbling, long story short is that I do things better when I am not being prodded to do things, why? because I don’t feel like I am being pressured into doing things.

In other news, Majora’s mask, and goddamn do I ever remember how I hate water temples in every single zelda game, and its worse, because not only does it have the typical water temple blues, but it is also TIMED, so not only do you have it being frustrating, but you have this clock ticking away at you, horrid.

In other other news, I am running a world of darkness game as previously mentioned, with just a few friends. The splash we are playing is Werewolf, set in my home region Muskoka, now, I wrote the region as having a presence of the three major supernaturals, vampires, werewolves and mages and I also decided that there would be a low population of changelings. Now the problem here with vampires was that they have a guideline that says how many would be in a region based on the population of humans, and based on that there would only be one, so what I had done was create a reason for them to be there other then humans, which was a revolutionary faction sort of things. Anyways, the plot I have set up for my players without revealing too much is essentially detective work into why a gouge has been dealt within the human population in the area, players are to look into that and deal with what they they is the problem, only to have more issues arise, I am excited for it, as it is my first time running a game and I always wanted to play or run a game of WoD.

That’s right, I have been playing portal, so far I have beat the single player twice, first normally, then with the commentary, and even if I think I missed some I still feel like they were a lot less of them then there were in the first portal. That being said, its a great game that keeps things fresh with newly employed game mechanics that don’t piss you off and they don’t force you to use the single portal gun for too long. On that note though, Valve did something that angered me, which is “robot enrichment” which is a thing where you can customise your co-op characters, sounds cool right? well it would be, if it wasn’t another mini-store within the game, seriously valve? I can understand it for TF2, its an old game that you still want to make some money on since you still release updates for it, but now you are pulling this out of your ass for a new game that frankly doesn’t seem to need big content patches like team fortress, you could have took the time you took developing the little store and hats and shit, used that to make the game even a bit better, or used that time to work on, you know, that one game, the one you guys are most well known for? It is called half-life 2 episode 3, not sure if you have heard of it.

Anyways, enough rambling, I haven’t done much since the last time I posted aside from play portal 2(or at least, nothing interesting to post about)

I did however, go to an open house at HSTA again, learned about my course and realised that the school only has about 50 students, which is pretty sweet. I also got recognised by my roomies that I have yet to stay with, despite only being at the house once, they seem like nice girls though… I fear for my safety though, living with three women, being the only man, most likely everything will be my fault.

So, What happened since I last posted on here? A lot, of course you know of the earthquake+Tsunami that hit Japan, who doesn’t know about that? It worried me a lot, to be honest, not just because it was a huge disaster and not just because it was in Japan, but because of a friend, I found myself worrying more for the lives of her family then anyone else’s there despite the fact that the only person from the family that I knew was her, and she was safe in New York, so why was I so worried? Because, I was worried that a friend from back in school would loose people that no one should really live without, either way, I lately heard from her that her family is alright, so that relieved me quite a bit. But that brings me to another point people started making, see, there are a bunch of people from I would assume America, who are saying “This is karma for what they did to pearl harbour”…wait.. what?

You are trying to tell me that a country that, since world war 2, have been allies with the states, and is mostly populated now by a bunch of people who have nothing to do with world war 2, in fact I believe their whole government has changed since then(Although I could be horribly wrong there) are deserving this wrath of nature? I am sorry, but that is the most idiotic piece of shit I have heard, all you are doing is trying to give yourself more reasons to hate others, and giving me a reason to hate you, good job.

On that note, there is another group of people out there, saying “Oh no, will the anime/game/whateverthehellelse industry be affected? What will I do without my anime!” I am sorry, but fuck you, a country is hit by a massive earthquake then hit by a tsunami after that, hundreds of people are dead, millions are injured, a shit ton of damage has been caused to homes, schools, hospitals, you name it, and you are worried about your favourite show being cancelled because of this? You are one selfish motherfucker, I hope you burn, and yes, I do know that I said I was more worried about a single persons family then the whole of Japan, but at least those were real, living people, you piece of shit.

Now, enough of that bullshit, I have some other news. First off, I was accepted into Fleming college and I will be starting in I believe September, I am going to go look at a place to stay at on Tuesday so yeah, that stuff is exciting. I have also started on a schedule and I am liking it quite a bit, it gives me structure to my life instead of just waking up half way through the day and doing jack all for the rest of it, now I have things to do at a specific time that my phone will prod me about if I ignore it.

Aside from that, I believe that is about all the news I have for now, I am mostly writing this because I am bored as hell at the moment, but who cares, what else is a blog for?

I would like to share something with you, but first some info about what I am going to be sharing with you. You see, I play World of Warcraft as most of you know and I am a big fan of warcraft in general. Well, a while back it was announced that the warchief, the big honcho in the horde was going to be changed to a guy named Garrosh Hellscream, who at first seems like a savage, mean beast and a idiot and he was replacing a not so savage and wise shaman named Thrall, needless to say alot of people were outraged by this and decided to bitch alot.

I never liked Garrosh Hellscream. In truth, I viewed him as a character of limited depth, limited intelligence and limited mileage. As you can probably imagine, I was somewhat perplexed when the news hit that Garrosh was going to be the new Warchief of the Horde while Thrall did his best to deal with the world pulling itself apart as the new Guardian of Tirisfal. Not only was I "somewhat perplexed", I was deeply unhappy with Blizzard’s choice and hoped they would reverse it. Then I saw the model for him and that simply confirmed my view that he was just a dumb, brutish ogre that would rip the Horde apart.
It’s not difficult to pinpoint why I (and others) hated Garrosh. He personified the old version of the orc from time immemorial; a thick-headed and hot-blooded savage with little capacity for sound judgement or reason, and a personality that lent itself to easy manipulation due to an inherent inability to consider consequences beyond the next dust up. Blizzard had spent the best part of four years forging a shamanistic personality for the orcs, one that formed the bedrock for a stronger future of enlightenment that would be led by the ancestors.
In the space of one transition, the orcs had reverted to type and gone back to the days when their only consideration was the next opportunity to incite a bloodbath. The responsibility for this lay firmly at Garrosh’s hearth which started in earnest by the killing of Cairne Bloodhoof and saw consolidation by the strained relationship with Vol’jin.
Honour good. Garrosh bad.
Of course, I then started playing the beta and spending a bit of time in Orgrimmar to chase down profession trainers and get access to places like Mount Hyjal, Deepholm and Vash’jir. The first thing that will hit anyone on entering the new Orgrimmar for the first time is the sheer volume of change that has hit it. The barest of bare bones in the layout are the same, but it’s almost as if Garrosh razed the entirety of the city and started again in accordance with his own vision. The buildings are bigger, there are districts for the city, it’s more fortified and the Warchief shows his personal preference by planting his throne in the Valley of Strength.
Then (assuming you play with sound) the music hits you. Music that’s a bombastic mix of drums and horns, with the sound practically pounding you in the face as you move about. I have no shame in telling you that when I hear it, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, as if to attention, ready to hear the orders of the Warchief and then see me rush to follow them. It’s spine-tingling, inspiring and boiling with orcish pride. Then you finally enter the throne room, with the music banging and the guards moving around, and you approach Warchief Garrosh and hear him loudly proclaim that you should "Live by these words; Lok’tar ogar – Victory or Death!"
It’s here that it hits you. You realise the point in all of it. And you acutely grasp that Thrall was correct whilst speaking to Vol’jin.
Garrosh is the right choice.
In such a short space of time, he’s recreated what Thrall spent an inordinate amount of time eroding.
Identity.
We’re back in a world where the Horde no longer accepts tolerance or, at a stretch, equality. It’s a Horde that demands superiority. Garrosh expects that every member will be their best, strive for the perfection we’d forgotten to chase, live in honour while defending our comrades and give our lives defending the principles that Garrosh’s father, the late and great Grom Hellscream, gave his life to grant all orcs.
Garrosh sees the Horde as an absolute sovereignty, the only power to be reckoned with in the known world. And while Thrall practically begged the Alliance to look past the fact we were orcs, trolls, tauren and Forsaken in an effort to be accepted, Garrosh makes absolutely no apology for who he is and, by default, who we are; he is a savagely proud orc that viscerally demands the same patriotism from every man, woman and child under his stewardship. He personifies that stoic adoration we have for ourselves as members of our own race, while obliterating the flimsy notion that the Horde owes anyone anything just by virtue of being.
Not only is Garrosh the right choice, he’s the perfect choice.
All of a sudden we’re reminded of why we joined the Horde in the first place, why we’re fighting for the expansion of our ideals and principles and why we’re killing members of the Alliance in battlegrounds instead of trying to befriend them. The Horde stands for those who value honour, regardless of race, and will always strive to be unconditionally committed to brothers in arms and blood-curdlingly hateful of those who seek our humility.
I explicitly understand why people would hate or despise Garrosh. After all, killing Cairne and insulting Vol’jin aren’t exactly the acts of someone you’d instantly fall in love with. But ask yourself; what is Garrosh doing to the Horde? Is he fracturing it? Destroying it? Harassing it? Or is he reforming it with a proud, honourable, powerful and wise identity that no enemy would go against willingly and that will never apologise for its nature?
You come to the Horde, you view its members as equals; not as a conglomerate amalgamation of misfits that deserve pity. The decision to do otherwise will soon see you lethally chastised.
In short, the Horde is back to what it was when I first joined and first loved it. So when you next enter the field in order to conduct your latest campaign into hostile or Alliance territory, and you can remember the last visit to Orgrimmar when you prepared for this battle while having those drums banging in your head, remember those words that will support you endlessly no matter what:
Hellscream’s eyes are upon you.

So, the other day I was watching the TV show True Blood just for the hell of it, it was a boring night, I was home alone and I decided to watch this show, now I don’t mind the show and they do vampires quite well in it, they burn up in the sun and all that good stuff, and they aren’t a bunch of sparkling faggots.

Well, they they start talking about werewolves, sounds cool, so I keep watching, then one guy confronts a werewolf and… the fucking thing is just a wolf, no were to it at all, I am sorry but last time I check werewolves were half man half beast, not a man who just happened to turn into a wolf, no, its a man who uncontrollably turns into a snarling, blood-thirsty(or if they learned how to, not so blood-thirsty) beast that is literally half man half wolf, not whole wolf, I mean, fuck, they already have shapeshifters in the series, why do they need “werewolves” that in reality are just shapeshifters that can only turn into wolves?

I am sorry but I hate the way these old monsters are going, we have vampires that can go into the sunlight and actually care about humans, no, they are monsters that hide in the skin of man who stalk the night for prey. And then we have these werewolves that turn into a wolf instead of a wolfman, what is so scary about them then? There is no way they can be any more dangerous then a normal wolf then aside from having intelligence, that is why the normal werewolf is much more dangerous, it has intelligence, but also the grace, speed and strength of a wolf mixed with the mobility of the human body(seriously, how to get away from a twilight werewolf? Climb a tree, you do that with a normal werewolf, you are fucked)

So yeah, alot of people that are friends of mine have moved on to college or university, whilst I haven’t, and to be honest depending on what I learn this year I may or may not go to college myself since yaknow, photography doesn’t need a degree. Anyways, with everyone gone I decided that I should start focusing on things more, so here is a list for yall to laugh at whilst I don’t finish it by the the end of the year

1. Practice guitar right after dinner every day for atleast 15 minutes.
2. Take more pictures
3. Go up town more, even if you don’t have a reason to, and when you do take your camera
4. Make money somehow?(Get a job/Start selling prints/loldonateplox?)

So yeah, not going to talk about much just gonna show off some pictures I took today because I promised I would take some pictures, if you didn’t know I have been at a loss for inspiration and motivation to take pictures, but I saw a blog of a friend who is a photographer, I never knew he was so good at photography untill I saw this blog and I noticed him taking pictures of just about everything, I took this to heart and did the same, and got some good shots from it, I only took about 10 or so, but I still got 3 good ones from it so I am happy.
